Food Happiness

What’s your passion? Let’s get you a megaphone so you can shout it out to the world.

August 19, 2016 Leave a Comment

In 2009, I attended a Minds of Mom (MOM) conference presented by Walmart and the entire day’s focus was all about bloggers. Mine was a last minute invite, one of those “hey, Lyndi, we’ve got an extra seat at this conference-thingy, you wanna’ come?” Always the one to jump on any conference-thingys, I jumped in my coworker’s car and arrived at a destination that would change my life.

I had entered the world of influencers.

“What is the magical world?” I remembered uttering those words out-loud to no one in particular. My head was spinning, twirling as blogger after blogger stood up and talked about their passions.

I wanted in.

Later that week I was having lunch with my friend Jason and he casually remarked, “hey, Lyndi, I’m following you on twitter. I had no idea you were such a foodie.”

I had never thought about it, honestly. Or, at least put it in those words. You see, my twitter handle those days was @lakebrittany, because, well I lived on Lake Brittany. Seemed logical at the time. And, like any proper and logically-minded gal I right then and there decided that my blog should have the word “foodie” in it. One of the speakers at the conference had a blog named nwadeals (now called Passion for Savings – Hi Heather!) and once again the logic kicked in. This blog was born. My passion had a voice.

So, I have to ask…

Where are you?

What is your story?

What is going to be your story?

What is your passion?

Let’s get you a megaphone so you can shout it out to the world!

You’re in luck.

But time is running out.

Come join hundreds of influencers, wanna-be influencers, and brands at the Megaphone Summit influencer conference on September 9-11 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Foodie Friday keynote is Patricia Barnes (owner of Sister Shubert dinner rolls). She will talk life, gifts, legacy and rolls. Chef Matt McClure from The Hive in Bentonville will talk local food and cook up delicious treats for us.

Megaphone Summit keynote is Peg Fitzpatrick (author of The Art of Social with Guy Kawasaki). She will talkabout how she turned her passion into a thriving social media career (and you can too!).

Soapbox Insights + Influence (where I work!) is the presenting sponsor of the conference!

Join us?

Eat well, my friends. Eat well.

  • Ad. #ARSoyStory This month the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Boards’ Kitchen|Fields Table Tour highlights a bone-in pork chop with soybean succotash served at the Postmaster’s Grill restaurant in Camden, Arkansas. Unfortunately, I live five hours North of Camden and I don’t eat pork. Ha! But that’s not stopping me……….. and that doesn’t have to stop you! Inspired by the Postmaster’s Grill, I have created us a soybean succotash recipe with turkey ham, fresh corn-on-the-cobb, frozen organic soybeans and a hint of tomatoes. This dish is vibrant, delicious, and super easy to pull together. Recipe link in bio 👆🏻and in comments👇🏻.
  • The secret to a deliciously perfect oven-roasted chicken? Butter. Butter. Butter. Oh and a touch of butter! Baked this little girl yesterday and captured the essense of the drippings by making a insanely delightful jus with a secret ingredient. Coming soon to the blog! Stay tuned!
  • Ad. Breakfast of champions! Actually, more like breakfast-through-mid-morning of champions! 🙌🏻 (That’s a huge plate right there!) 🍅 drizzled with olive oil and @denigris1889usa balsamic vinegar of Modena with 35% concentrated grape must for the win! There was so much goodness on this plate that I decided to skip the eggs! What does YOUR breakfast of champions look like today?
  • No matter what, there are always staples I keep on hand when it comes to veggies. Mushrooms, zucchini, squash, cauliflower and romaine. Oh, and cute cherry tomatoes. Along with my pantry, fridge, and freezer staples, these vegetables make it so I am always prepared for a delicious and quick meal if someone drops by. What are your go-to veggie staples? Or, are you right now thinking, “What the heck is a veggie staple?!” 😂
  • #ad Okay, raise of hands… Who is ready to order the Ricotta Cavatelli with soybeans, shiitake and Parmesan the next time you visit The Hive in Bentonville? Why not enjoy a delicious meal AND feel good about supporting Arkansas farmers at the same time? #ARSoyStory @arkansassoybeans

  • Afternoon vibes at @tablemesabistro in #Bentonville. I recommend you beat the crowds and order a light afternoon refresher such as avocado fries or a cup of their delicious chicken poblano soup. (Psst.... 3-4pm is the magic hour.) Who else is always looking for a quiet and private spot to get some work done? Where else is a good spot to hole up?

“Just like becoming an expert in wine–you learn by drinking it, the best you can afford–you learn about great food by finding the best there is, whether simply or luxurious.
