Day 3: Local Farmer’s Bounty, Farm Box Delivers.

September 6, 2013 59 Comments
Day 3 blog anniversary giveaway Farm Box Delivers (c)nwafoodie

*** THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSE.  Congratulations to Nicki from Bentonville, lucky #13.  You are the winner! ***

Welcome to Day 3 of weeklong giveaways focused on all-things-local because I am celebrating my four-year blog anniversary and showering you with awesome presents.

Day 3: Local Farmer’s Bounty:  Farm Box Delivers, a local, organic and all natural food delivery service.

This giveaway is truly bountiful.

In fact, it may just blow your mind a bit as it has mine.

There is a new delivery service in town called Farm Box Delivers that supports local farmers, growers, and ranchers by providing them with a means of distribution beyond the local farmer’s markets. It is a two-fold business that services you and me via a home delivery service in Northwest Arkansas while at the same time helping our local community farmers establish a distribution service of their goods beyond the usual growing season.  That means our small farmers have the ability to get more of their goods out and that we have more opportunities to try them!

I love that 98% – 99% of everything they sell is local.

This fact greatly excites me and is one of the reasons why I wanted to have this specific giveaway for you.

Another reason for my excitement is the flexibility of this service, which astounds me.  Orders can be one-time only or a routine subscription service, and all can be customized to your taste buds and seasonal desires.  Their facebook page is constantly keeping me abreast of what is new and available as they do a great job of highlighting local farmers, ranchers, and gardeners.

Zach Brown and his wife, Christie, started Farm Box Delivers about a year ago and is based in Lowell.  Business is bounding with local enthusiasm and support and they are in the process of adding another distribution center in the River Valley.

Okay, there is much more we can chat about Farm Box Delivers but I will leave that for another time.  There are two things I want to leave you with today:

1.
Consider shopping local. Browse their “shop” of locally made products for inspiration. Check out the photos on the bottom of this post to see the cornucopia of availability.

2.
Enter this giveaway and get your first Farm Box Delivers delivery free.  Oh my, it’s a good one… I am jealous.

Prize:

A lucky someone will be receiving one Farm Box delivery that includes a Localvore Farm Box and a three day Paleo Prepared Meal.  When I said the words “bounty” and “cornucopia” earlier, I meant it!

Contest ends next Wednesday, September 11th at midnight (CDT).  I will pick a winner via randomizer.

Eligibility:

Answer the following question in the comment section.

Q: If you had one wish of an item or product that could be delivered to your home or office, what do you wish it would be?

Please make sure your comment has information that allows me to contain you such as your name, email, blog, facebook, or twitter name in case you are the winner (need help on how to leave a comment?).

Want extra changes to win?

+1 extra entry:  Tweet this giveaway (tag “@nwafoodie” and leave an extra comment to let me know)

+1 extra entry:  Facebook this giveaway (tag “nwafoodie” in the giveaway and leave an extra comment to let me know)

One of my friends had corn delivered last week from FarmBoxDelivers and it inspired her to play around with different recipe combinations!

Berries are the thing that I would like to see really fresh not either unripe and hard or smashed and moulding as one usually finds them.

Local food from small farmers. I also think it would be great if I could get fresh cilantro already cleaned and stripped off the stems (hate that job!).

I saw a loaf of that GF bread and held it in my hand when I toured the warehouse. It feels like "normal" bread. (whoever reads this and is GF would understand that comment!)

You gotta try the bread and the paleo meal and tell me what you think!

I really like that train of thought. In fact, I tell myself that is what I am doing and then lo and behold I find myself months later going back to the same pile and doing it again. It’s not that I have added anything to the pile. Rather, I find that what seemed like important to me at the time becomes less so the more I purge.
